In a significant move, the Ministry of Finance has announced a substantial reduction in the existing Special Commodity Levy on imported rice.
The levy, previously set at Rs. 65 per kilogram, has now been revised down to a mere Rs. 1 per kilogram.
This development comes into effect from January 2nd and will remain applicable until January 21st, as outlined in the recently issued Extraordinary Gazette.
The decision aims to provide relief and make imported rice more affordable for consumers during this specified timeframe.
