Sri Lanka has welcomed more than 1.45 million international tourists since the beginning of 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
A total of 1,468,980 tourists arrived in the country between January 1 and August 18, while 125,562 tourists visited Sri Lanka during the first 18 days of August.
India recorded the highest number of arrivals in August so far, with 27,884 tourists, followed by the United Kingdom with 13,980 and France with 8,776.
India has also remained the leading source market during the year, accounting for 366,114 arrivals. The United Kingdom recorded 144,381 arrivals, while China contributed 97,073 tourists.
Meanwhile, February recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals so far this year, with 279,328 visitors.
The latest figures highlight the continued growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector in 2026.
