COLOMBO (ZiraDaily) - In the first five days of November, tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka reached over 22,000, indicating an improvement compared to the previous month.
According to provisional data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the average daily arrival rate has increased to 4,400.
In total, from January 1st to November 5th, 2023, there have been 1,147,657 cumulative arrivals. Notably, there has been a significant shift in the source markets for Sri Lanka's tourism in November 2023, marking a change from earlier in the year.
India, which had been the largest source of tourist traffic, now ranks second, accounting for 18 percent of total arrivals.
The Russian Federation has taken the top spot, contributing 20 percent of the total arrivals. Germany has surpassed the United Kingdom to become the fourth largest source market, making up 9 percent of total arrivals. Sri Lanka anticipates ending 2023 with a total of 1.5 million tourists.
