Sri Lanka Customs has achieved a significant milestone by recording its highest revenue for the month of October, surpassing previous months within this year, according to Customs media spokesman Sivali Arukgoda. The revenue generated by SL Customs in October alone exceeded Rs. 109 billion.
The notable increase in revenue can be attributed to the implementation of streamlined processes and enhanced efficiency in tax collection. These improvements have contributed to a more effective and productive system.
It is projected that the total Customs revenue for this year will surpass Rs. 925 billion, indicating a positive trend in revenue generation. As of October 31, 2023, the Customs Department had already collected a total revenue of Rs. 760 billion.
The achievement of this record-breaking revenue for October highlights the dedication and efforts of the Sri Lanka Customs in ensuring the collection of taxes and duties, which play a vital role in the country's economic development.
