In a special statement, CIABOC Director General Ranga Dissanayake emphasized that the deadline is legally binding and that officials who fail to submit their declarations within the stipulated period will face substantial fines.
He noted that the penalties are unavoidable and will be imposed on all individuals who fail to meet the deadline.
Dissanayake further warned that non-compliance could lead to legal action under Section 80(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, which requires all designated individuals to file their annual asset and liability declarations by June 30 each year.
The Director General also stressed that all declarations must be submitted exclusively through the centralized electronic declaration system introduced on March 31, 2026. He clarified that no alternative methods of submission will be accepted.
CIABOC urged all public officials subject to the declaration requirement to complete the process well before the deadline to avoid penalties and possible legal consequences.
