Dr. Kumar was among nine senior health officials who received appointment letters to Deputy Director General posts from Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa on June 11.
According to the Ministry of Health, the appointments mark the filling of several long-vacant permanent administrative positions, including the Deputy Director General post at the National Hospital.
A specialist in medical administration, Dr. Kumar brings extensive experience in healthcare management, having served in several senior administrative positions across the country.
His previous appointments include leadership roles at the Badulla Teaching Hospital, Ratnapura Teaching Hospital, Polonnaruwa District General Hospital, the National Nephrology Hospital in Polonnaruwa, the North Western Province Provincial Director of Health Services, and the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama, the Ministry said.
