Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called on the government, opposition and the entire country to work together to address the impacts of the El Niño phenomenon.
Addressing the Parliamentary Forum on Climate Change, Premadasa said a national dialogue should be initiated, without political divisions, to face the serious challenges posed by the phenomenon.
The Parliamentary Forum on Climate Change was recently held under the joint chairmanship of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and Professor L.M. Abeywickrama.
Experts and academics in the field also presented their views and recommendations during the forum.
Premadasa stressed that attention should also be given to protecting human resources, wildlife, forests and biodiversity in confronting the impacts of climate change.
