The body of the specialist doctor attached to the Badulla Teaching Hospital, who had been reported missing, was found earlier today (24) on a rock near the Mapakadawewa area in Mahiyanganaya.
The victim, an anesthesiologist, had been on duty at the hospital yesterday morning (23) before mysteriously disappearing later that day. Following a preliminary inquiry, police tracked his movements through CCTV footage, which captured his car traveling toward Mahiyanganaya through the Meegahakiula area.
Continuing their search, authorities located the doctor’s abandoned vehicle last night near the 17th milepost along the Badulla–Mahiyanganaya canal road in the Mapakadawewa area.
Acting on these findings, a joint search operation was launched this morning by the Police, Crime Scene Investigation officers, and the Sri Lanka Army, which ultimately led to the discovery of the doctor's body.
