The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to meet on the 28th of this month for the third review under Sri Lanka's Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
If approval is granted for the third review, Sri Lanka will receive financial assistance of approximately USD 333 million. As a result, the total funds available under the Extended Fund Facility, amounting to around USD 3 billion, will increase to USD 1.333 billion for Sri Lanka.
Although an agreement on economic policies between the IMF staff and Sri Lankan authorities was reached at the staff level in November, the financial facility has not been released yet. This is primarily because the IMF needed to assess whether the proposals in the 2025 budget are aligned with the conditions of the IMF program.
