The discussions, supported by officials from the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, focused on integrating the numerous early childhood development centers across the country into a unified framework.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that a single national policy should guide the operations of these centers, ensuring consistency and quality in early childhood education. Prime Minister Amarasuriya instructed officials to take necessary steps to obtain Cabinet approval for the establishment of this comprehensive policy, which would apply to both the central government and provincial authorities.
The new policy guidelines will address key aspects of early childhood development, including teacher recruitment exams, salaries, and training, aiming to standardize and improve the sector for the benefit of young children across Sri Lanka.
