National People's Power (NPP) Member of Parliament Aravinda Senarath has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA). The announcement was made by the Parliament's Communications Department following a meeting of the committee held today at the Parliament complex.
Mp Senarath's appointment came after his name was proposed by MP Chandana Suriyarachchi and seconded by MP Susantha Kumara Navaratne, both from the National People's Power.
The Committee on Public Accounts plays a crucial role in overseeing government spending and ensuring accountability in the use of public funds. Senarath’s election is expected to strengthen the committee's efforts in maintaining transparency and efficiency in financial management.
