PM seeks Probe into A/L Attendance Drop
During her visit to the Maharagama National Institute of Education, the Prime Minister expressed concern about declining attendance in A/L classrooms, particularly among boys. She noted a troubling trend of students leaving the education system prematurely.

She highlighted the need for education to drive personal and social transformation, preparing children for the modern world.
“Our government is committed to transformative changes in education that will help children connect with the modern world and achieve the social progress people desire. " We view every educational investment as an investment in the nation’s future, aiming to shape responsible citizens,” she said.
She also commended the National Institute of Education for its pivotal role in this process, acknowledging the complexity and long-term commitment required to reform education.
