President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has vowed to eliminate racial politics and religious extremism in Sri Lanka, ensuring a unified future for all citizens.

Delivering the Government’s Policy Statement at the inaugural session of the 10th Parliament on Thursday (21), the president emphasized his government’s commitment to serving every citizen, regardless of their political affiliations.

“Our government and I are duty-bound to fulfill the needs of all people,” he said, highlighting the importance of national unity, especially after decades of division and conflict.

The President declared, “Racial politics and religious extremism will not be allowed to rise again. We have suffered enough from these tensions, and it is our duty to prevent such issues for future generations.”

He also shared his vision for Sri Lanka’s development, specially focusing on advancing the IT sector and improving the quality of life for all citizens, specially those with disabilities.

“It is the responsibility of this government to take care of all communities and ensure no one is left behind,” he added, urging Parliament to work collectively toward a stronger, united Sri Lanka.
