Police Enforce Post-Election Security Measures
Police Spokesperson DIG Nihal Thalduwa explained that officers across the country have been placed on high alert to maintain peace and order.
“The post-election period has now begun. No meetings, rallies, or similar gatherings are permitted in public places for a week. Police are conducting mobile patrols nationwide, supported by intelligence officers. Special security arrangements are also in place for identified police divisions,” DIG Thalduwa stated.
He also disclosed that 581 individuals were arrested for violating election laws during the pre-election period, including 18 candidates and their supporters.
DIG Thalduwa emphasized that no incidents of election-related violence were reported, reflecting the peaceful nature of this election season.
