19 Sri Lankan Players Selected for IPL 2025 Mega Auction
This year’s auction has seen an impressive 1,574 players registered, including 1,165 Indians and 409 overseas cricketers, all competing for a chance to shine on the IPL stage.
A significant number of players registered for the auction from around the globe, including Afghanistan 29, Australia 76, Bangladesh 13, Canada 4, England 52, Ireland 9, Netherlands 12, New Zealand 39, Scotland 2, South Africa 91, Sri Lanka 29, UAE 1, USA 10, West Indies 33, and Zimbabwe 8, adding diversity to the auction.
Among the registered players, 320 are capped professionals, 1,224 are uncapped players, and 30 come from associate nations. Out of these, 574 players have been shortlisted for the two-day auction. The pool includes 366 Indian players and 208 overseas cricketers, with 204 slots available across franchises, including 70 for overseas players.
The IPL 2025 auction has introduced its highest reserve price at INR 2 Crore, with 81 players opting to be in this elite bracket. With a diverse range of talent in the mix, the auction promises fierce bidding battles as teams look to strengthen their squads.
Sri Lanka has a strong presence this year, with 29 players registering and 19 making it to the shortlist. Star spinner Maheesh Theekshana is leading the pack for Sri Lanka, entering the auction with a hefty reserve price of INR 2 Crore, a highest reserve price for an individual player.
