A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka next week for the third review of the country's economic program under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF).

The team, led by Mr. Peter Brewer, the senior mission head of the IMF, will conduct discussions with local officials and assess the progress made under the ECF arrangement.

This review is a significant step in Sri Lanka's ongoing partnership with the IMF, following earlier discussions held in the United States. The outcome of this review will determine Sri Lanka's eligibility for the next loan installment under the IMF's financial support package.

The Extended Credit Facility, which was approved in 2020, is aimed at helping Sri Lanka stabilize its economy, address fiscal challenges, and implement reforms necessary for sustainable growth. Following the review, the IMF is expected to release the next tranche of financial assistance to support the country's recovery efforts.

The IMF delegation's visit is part of a broader effort to monitor the economic progress of Sri Lanka and ensure that the agreed-upon reforms are being implemented effectively.
