Jetstar Asia Launches Flights Between Singapore and Sri Lanka
The inaugural flight arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at 10:30 AM, carrying 179 passengers. To celebrate the occasion, the flight was welcomed with a traditional water salute by the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL).
In addition, passengers were greeted with a lively Kandyan dance performance, sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, and presented with tea gift packs courtesy of the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Harsha Abeywickrema, Chairman of AASL, expressed his enthusiasm about the new flight route, highlighting its potential to boost Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
“The launch of Jetstar Asia’s scheduled flights between Singapore and Sri Lanka is a significant boost for our tourism sector’s ongoing growth. This new connection promises an enhanced travel experience for both local and international passengers,” Abeywickrema said.
He also extended his gratitude to Jetstar Asia for choosing Sri Lanka as a new destination, reinforcing the commitment of AASL to support this partnership and ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers.
Jetstar Asia’s new route is expected to contribute to the growing demand for connectivity between Singapore and Sri Lanka, benefiting travelers and supporting Sri Lanka’s efforts to enhance its global tourism profile.
