Uber partners with Sri Lanka Tourism to boost tourist influx
Uber has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Tourism and Lands to support efforts in promoting Sri Lanka as a prime tourist destination. As part of this initiative, Sri Lanka Tourism is organizing roadshows in select Indian cities to attract more visitors.
Uber will leverage its platform to highlight Sri Lankan tourist spots and cuisine, offering special promo codes for transport and delivery services to tourists. Additionally, a co-promoted contest will grant five winners from India an all-expenses-paid holiday in Sri Lanka for three nights and four days.
Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau (SLTPB), emphasized the significant role Uber can play in enhancing the country’s tourism profile. Kaushalya Gunaratne, Uber Mobility Country Manager for Sri Lanka, echoed this sentiment, stating that Uber, as a widely used global platform, is well-positioned to be a key partner in driving tourism.
Tourism is a vital sector for Sri Lanka, contributing 13 percent to the nation's GDP.
