Speaker upholds legality of IGP appointment amid tension

Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has informed Parliament that the decision to appoint the Inspector General of Police (IGP) was correct, legal, constitutional, and made in good faith.
He emphasized that the situation regarding the IGP cannot be resolved by the President alone and must be addressed in court if necessary.
