Opposition accuses IGP of politicizing police force

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has officially lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Thennekoon, alleging the politicization of the police force.

In a letter to the Chairman of the Election Commission, SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara accused the IGP of misusing police resources to organize community police workshops nationwide for political purposes.

Madduma Bandara also urged the Election Commission to intervene and halt other alleged propaganda activities being conducted by various ministries.
