The Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) unanimously elected Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva as the party’s Chairman and Duminda Dissanayake as the SLFP General Secretary today.
Minister of Ports, Aviation, and Shipping Nimal Siripala de Silva was previously appointed as the SLFP Acting Chairman by a faction within the party that supports him. This decision was made during the SLFP politburo meeting led by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga on April 8 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.
Furthermore, MP Duminda Dissanayake was appointed as the SLFP’s Acting General Secretary by the same faction during another politburo meeting on April 25.
