An individual allegedly planning to sell 5 kilograms of ambergris, also known as grey amber or whale vomit, valued at around Rs. 1 billion, has been arrested by police.

The suspect was arrested in the Ahungalla area by officers from the Walana Police Anti-Vice Squad.

Ambergris, formed in the bile ducts of sperm whales, is commonly referred to as "floating gold" due to its exorbitant price in the international market, primarily used in luxury perfumes.
