President Ranil Wickremesinghe underscored the government's dedication to enhancing the agricultural sector's role in driving Sri Lanka's economic progress. Speaking at the launch of "Dilmah Cinnamon" at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo yesterday, he emphasized the implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting cinnamon cultivation, a historically significant export crop for the nation.
The event marked the entry of the renowned "Dilmah" brand into the Sri Lankan cinnamon industry, known globally for its success in promoting "Ceylon Tea." Expanding its domestic exports, the company introduced premium cinnamon products to the global market.
President Wickremesinghe, joined by President of the World Association of Chefs' Societies Master Chef Thomas Gugler, ceremonially unveiled the Dilmah Cinnamon range. He applauded the resurrection of "Ceylon Cinnamon," drawing parallels with Dilmah's triumph with "Ceylon Tea," and expressed confidence that this venture would herald a new era of economic growth for the country.
