A fire has broken out in a girls' college hostel in Weligama, reportedly originating on the third floor of a four-story building housing the hostel.
Emergency response teams, including the Matara Municipal Fire Brigade Unit and the Weligama Police, swiftly responded to the incident. With the assistance of local residents, they managed to bring the flames under control and extinguish the fire.
The extent of damage caused by the fire has not yet been disclosed. Notably, a similar incident occurred at the same girls' school on March 3, raising concerns about safety measures at the facility.
