The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court granted bail to five individuals, including Ven. Ulapane Sumangala Thero, who were in remand custody for allegedly defying a court order. Each suspect was released on bail with two sureties of Rs.100,000 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasena.
The allegations stemmed from the suspects' purported obstruction and defiance of a court order to remove slums situated at Dabare Mawatha in Narahenpita. The Additional Magistrate instructed the suspects not to tamper with the witnesses and cautioned that bail could be revoked if they breached the conditions. The case is scheduled to be heard again on August 5.
