The Department of Examinations has announced a prohibition on coaching or tuition classes targeting candidates preparing for the 2023 (2024) G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination, effective from April 30 until the conclusion of the exam.

Commissioner General of Examinations, H.J.M.C. Amith Jayasundara, confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been finalized for the examination, scheduled to take place from May 6 to May 15. With 3,527 examination centers set up nationwide, preparations are underway to ensure a smooth conduct of the examinations.

Jayasundara emphasized that various activities, including organizing subject-oriented lectures, seminars, or classes, printing examination-oriented materials, and distributing or publicizing similar questions/answers via electronic media, posters, and banners, are prohibited until June 1, the concluding day of the examinations.

Stressing the enforcement of these regulations, Jayasundara outlined the channels through which complaints regarding violations can be lodged.

Individuals can report infractions to the nearest police station, the Examinations Department, or contact the designated authorities via the following hotlines: Police Headquarters (0112421111), Police Emergency (119), Examinations Department Hotline (1911), and Schools Examinations Organizing Branch (0112784208 / 0112784537).
