Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi has called on President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, a short while ago.
The visit, which marks the first by an Iranian President since 2008, saw Dr. Raisi ceremonially welcomed with guard of honor and pageantry.
His visit was in response to a special invitation from President Wickremesinghe. During his one-day stay, President Raisi participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project (UOMDP), a significant irrigation endeavor following the Mahaweli Development Project.
