The Uma Oya Multi-Purpose Development Project is poised for its public handover tomorrow, announced Irrigation, Wildlife, and Forest Conservation Minister Pavitra Wanniarachchi. 

Minister Wanniarachchi made the declaration after a recent inspection visit to the project site.

The handover ceremony, scheduled for April 24, will witness the presence of esteemed dignitaries including President Ranil Wickremesinghe and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi.

Initiated back in 2010, the Uma Oya Multi-Purpose Development Project was embarked upon with an ambitious vision and an estimated budget of USD 514 million. After years of planning and execution, the project is now ready to be unveiled to the public, marking a significant milestone in the region's development landscape.
