The Supreme Court recently granted leave to proceed with writ petition SC Writ 17/2023 filed by several members of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) and issued notices on the respondents including the Commissioner-General of Elections and Dr. Tissa Vitharana and further issued an interim order restraining the Elections Commission from accepting Dr. Tissa Vitharana as the General Secretary of the LSSP, in the event an election is declared.
