In an upcoming bilateral visit, the President of Iran, Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, will join President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka in unveiling the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project.

The event, slated for April 24th, marks a significant collaboration between the two nations. Funded jointly by Sri Lanka and Iran, the project aims to bolster Sri Lanka's energy infrastructure by adding 120 Megawatts to the national grid. Additionally, it will provide vital irrigation to approximately 25,000 acres of paddy lands in the country's southeastern region.

President Raisi's visit comes amid a busy diplomatic schedule, including a recent three-day trip to Pakistan. During his time in Islamabad, Raisi engaged in talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, signaling a thaw in relations following tensions earlier in the year.
