Ella police reported that the official vehicle of Primary Industries State Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayake caught fire this morning in the Halpe area due to a technical failure.
The incident took place around 1 a.m. while the State Minister was en route from Mahiyangana to Ella. Fortunately, neither the minister nor the driver sustained any injuries.
The fire was promptly extinguished by the Fire Department of the Bandarawela Municipal Council, along with the assistance of Ella Police and local residents.
