A 17-year-old girl was injured in a shooting incident at Girithale in Minneriya last night, according to the Police.
They said that the Minneriya Police launched an investigation after receiving information that a girl had been injured and admitted to the Polonnaruw Hospital.
The Police said that the shooting occurred while the victim girl was visiting her relative's house with her family members.
The cause of the shooting has not yet been revealed, and investigations are underway to arrest the suspect.
