The tally of dengue cases for the year 2024 has surpassed the alarming mark of 21,000, as reported by the Epidemiology Unit.
As of April 13th, a total of 21,028 cases have been documented, with the Colombo district reporting the highest number at 4,527 cases.
The Western Province leads in total cases province-wise, with 7,547 cases recorded thus far. Additionally, the month of April alone has witnessed 989 new dengue cases, indicating a concerning trend.
Health officials attribute the spike in cases to the recent significant rainfall experienced in several parts of Sri Lanka.
