The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has reported a significant increase in its daily income, reaching Rs. 25 million, attributed to the special bus service provided for the April New Year festival.
Since April 5, the SLTB has deployed 200 buses as part of a special service to facilitate public travel to their hometowns during the festive season, according to Panduka Swarnahansa, Deputy General Manager of SLTB.
The Road Development Authority (RDA) has also experienced a boost in income, recording a 10% increase as of yesterday, thanks to the ongoing April festive season.
The RDA anticipates a further rise in income by April 15, 2024.
Furthermore, the Railway Department has responded to the increased travel demand by introducing 12 additional trains for the April festive season.
These special train services are scheduled to operate until April 15, 2024, ensuring convenient transportation for passengers during this celebratory period.
