The Neurosurgery Department at Colombo National Hospital celebrates the acquisition of a cutting-edge CT scanner, heralding a new era in medical diagnostics and treatment.

Under the guidance of Dr. Palitha Mahipala, Secretary of the Ministry of Health, the installation of this advanced technology signifies a remarkable leap forward in the hospital's healthcare capabilities.

Financed by the Asian Development Bank through the Health Sector Development Project, this state-of-the-art CT scanner comes with a price tag of Rs. 220 million, ensuring top-notch medical care for patients.

The 128-Slice CT Scan machine plays a crucial role in the assessment and monitoring of patients with brain and spinal cord injuries resulting from various causes such as motor accidents, assaults, falls, and brain tumors.

Moreover, it facilitates the evaluation of patients requiring surgical intervention for conditions like brain bleeding or high blood pressure-induced internal bleeding in the brain, enhancing the hospital's capacity to provide timely and accurate diagnoses and treatments.
