The Special Investigation Unit of the Police Headquarters has launched an investigation into students being dressed in jungle uniforms used by the Police Special Task Force (STF).
Police said the investigation was launched on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police regarding the fact that police officers appointed in the respective areas to coordinate the police cadets were aware of such incidents but did not act to prevent them.
Also, investigations will be conducted over the lack of proper permission for this.
Police stated that disciplinary action will be taken against the officers if they have committed any wrongdoing.
Meanwhile, the uniforms used by the students have been taken into custody by the Gampaha headquarters police.
Additionally, the tailor who has been engaged in sewing these uniforms has been arrested by the Police Special Task Force for keeping and sewing these jungle clothes belonging to the Police Special Task Force without proper permission.
The suspect was handed over to the Anuradhapura Police.
