Actress Damitha Abeyratne and her husband were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for alleged financial fraud.
The couple surrendered to the Fort Magistrate’s Court, where they were arrested following a financial scam accusation.
The court had imposed a travel ban on them earlier. Their request for an interim order preventing arrest under the Immigrants and Emigrants Act was rejected by the Court of Appeal. They are accused of defrauding money by promising foreign job opportunities.
