The Ministry of Power and Energy, in collaboration with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), has issued a call for proposals through International Competitive Bidding (ICB) for the development of a 50 MW wind farm facility in Mannar.

Announcing the initiative, Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, disclosed the details via ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). The ICB aims to attract capable developers possessing both the financial prowess and technical expertise to undertake the construction, ownership, and operation of the wind farm facility in Mannar on a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) basis.

Minister Wijesekera emphasized the significance of this endeavor, highlighting its potential to bolster renewable energy generation within the region. He further stated that the deadline for submission of proposals is set for 09 May. Following the deadline, all proposals will undergo scrutiny, with the opening of submissions scheduled to take place at the office of the CEB Deputy General Manager of Renewable Energy Procurement and Performance Monitoring.

This process will be conducted in the presence of authorized representatives from the project proponents.
