The State-run Bank of Ceylon (BOC) revealed the appointment of top professional Kavan Ratnayaka as its new Chairman, effective from tomorrow, March 14.
Ratnayaka assumes the position following the departure of Ronald C Perera, PC, who resigned as Chairman yesterday.
The news came through a filing to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), where BOC affirmed Ratnayaka's appointment to lead the prominent financial institution. Ratnayaka brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously held esteemed positions in various sectors.
Prior to his appointment as BOC Chairman, Ratnayaka served as Chairman of several prominent organizations, including the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, and the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon (Lake House). His diverse professional background also encompasses leadership roles in the corporate sector, notably as the Country General Manager of IBM Sri Lanka, Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Broadband, and Chief Corporate Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC.
A distinguished alumnus of Royal College, Ratnayaka holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of California, underscoring his strong academic foundation.
