The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has refuted recent media claims suggesting that the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) submitted a report proposing electricity tariff reductions.
In an official statement released today (Jan. 08), the energy sector regulator clarified that no such reports or proposals have been received as of the current date.
Contrary to several media outlets suggesting that the CEB had presented a proposal for electricity tariff revision seeking the commission's approval, the PUCSL stated that they have not received any such documentation up to now (Jan. 08).
However, on Wednesday (Jan. 03), Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara had announced that the CEB intends to submit a proposal for electricity tariff reduction to the PUCSL in the coming week, adding a layer of anticipation to the ongoing developments in the energy sector.
