The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has reported a remarkable 57.5% increase in workers' remittances for the year 2023 compared to the previous year. The cumulative figure for January to December 2023 reached an impressive USD 5,969.6 million, signaling a substantial boost in foreign inflows.
Official figures reveal that workers' remittances in December 2023 amounted to USD 569.7 million, marking a noteworthy rise from November 2023 when inflows stood at USD 537 million.
