In a bid to spread festive joy and alleviate the financial burden on consumers, Lanka Sathosa Chairman Pasanda Yapa Abeywardena announced a significant reduction in prices for ten essential commodities, effective from today until December 31.
Among the notable reductions, Sathosa Milk Powder will witness a price drop of Rs. 10, now available at Rs. 940. Imported canned fish in both 425g and 255g variants will see reductions of Rs. 55 and Rs. 10, respectively. Local canned fish in the 425g size will be more affordable by Rs. 20. Imported and local potatoes will be cheaper by Rs. 15 each, while red raw rice (1kg) will be reduced by Rs. 15, and white raw rice (1kg) will see a price cut of Rs. 5.
Additionally, the cost of chickpeas (1kg) will be lowered by Rs. 5.
Chairman Abeywardena specified that eggs will be available at Rs. 35 each, white sugar at Rs. 275, and big onions at Rs. 400 during this promotional period. This price reduction initiative aims to provide relief to consumers during the holiday season and foster a more affordable shopping experience.
