In the initial 10 days of December, Sri Lanka witnessed a surge in tourism, with over 50,000 arrivals, as reported by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
The total count for December 1-10 reached 57,394 tourists, contributing to the 2023 total of 1,334,345 arrivals. Notably, December 10 marked the highest single-day influx this year, with 8,696 tourists, propelled by three luxury cruise ships at Colombo Harbour, hosting over 4,000 visitors.
Concurrently, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) revealed tourism earnings of USD 205.3 million for November 2023, bringing the 11-month total to USD 1,798.7 million.
November 2023 stood out with 151,496 arrivals, a substantial 153.5% rise from November 2022 (59,759 arrivals).
