The collaborative efforts, spearheaded by King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Falil Al Ibrahim, have already resulted in the creation of job opportunities benefiting over 5 million Sri Lankans.
During a recent and successful visit to Sri Lanka, Minister Faisal Al Ibrahim engaged in discussions at the Presidential Palace with President Ranil Wickramasinghe. The talks primarily centered around fortifying economic ties, with a particular focus on sectors such as apparel and tourism. Notably, the post-LTTE era has witnessed an influx of Saudi Arabian tourists, contributing significantly to Sri Lanka's economic expansion. Discussions also emphasized the potential growth of the agro-tourism sector and the furthering of garment exports.
Minister Faisal Al Ibrahim underscored Saudi Arabia's dedication to bolstering regional economic ties, emphasizing Sri Lanka's pivotal role in this endeavor. Meetings with CEOs of major Sri Lankan companies were conducted to explore various facets of economic and investment cooperation. Additionally, discussions with Sri Lanka’s Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabri delved into strengthening economic relationships and addressing shared concerns.
The collaborative efforts unfolded at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, drawing the participation of Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekhara, State Ministers Taraka Balasuriya, and Shehan Semasinghe, along with Saudi Arabian Ambassador Khalid Bin Hamood Al Qahtani. Saudi Arabia's robust economy, driven by ambitious initiatives like Vision 2030 and significant projects, positions the country as a formidable global competitor. The recent discoveries of oil in the eastern region are anticipated to further fortify the Kingdom's economic standing.
