According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 1,104,354 tourist arrivals were recorded between January 1 and June 21, 2026.
The SLTDA also reported that 82,332 tourists visited the island during the period from June 1 to June 21, indicating steady momentum in arrivals during the current month.
India remained Sri Lanka’s largest source market, contributing 31,158 visitors during the first 21 days of June. The United Kingdom ranked second with 6,658 arrivals, while China secured the third position with 5,178 visitors.
For the overall period from January 1 to June 21, India continued to lead tourist arrivals with 281,418 visitors. The United Kingdom followed with 104,751 arrivals, while Russia ranked third, contributing 76,963 tourists.
Meanwhile, February recorded the highest monthly tourist arrivals so far this year, with 279,328 visitors, highlighting a strong peak season performance for the industry.
Tourism authorities expect the positive trend to continue in the coming months as Sri Lanka strengthens its position as a leading travel destination in South Asia and works toward achieving its annual tourism targets.
The latest figures underscore the sector’s ongoing recovery and its vital contribution to the country’s economy through foreign exchange earnings, employment generation, and investment opportunities.
