The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has fixed November 3, 2026, to recall the complaint filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against Member of Parliament Chamara Sampath Dassanayake over alleged corruption.

The matter was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today, where the Bribery Commission informed the court that investigations into the case are still in progress.

Following the submissions, the Chief Magistrate directed CIABOC to submit an updated report on the progress of the investigation when the case is called again on November 3.

The complaint relates to allegations that Dassanayake, during his tenure as Chief Minister of the Uva Province, caused a loss exceeding Rs. 17.3 million to the State by prematurely withdrawing fixed deposits belonging to the Uva Provincial Council. The Bribery Commission is conducting investigations in connection with the alleged incident.
