According to reports, two fire trucks from the Galle Municipal Council Fire Brigade were dispatched to the scene, with firefighting teams working to bring the blaze under control.
However, officials stated that by the time firefighters arrived, a significant portion of the factory had already been engulfed in flames.
The fire is reported to have destroyed a substantial stock of processed tea leaves stored within the premises, resulting in considerable losses.
