President meets ICC chairman Jay Shah

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Jay Shah, Chairman of the International Cricket Council, at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (19).

During the cordial discussion, attention was focused on the continued development of cricket in Sri Lanka and the strengthening of cooperation between Sri Lanka and the ICC. The meeting also explored opportunities to enhance cricket infrastructure, promote grassroots talent development, and further elevate Sri Lanka’s standing in international cricket.

President Dissanayake emphasized the significant role cricket plays in uniting the nation and inspiring young athletes across the country. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at fostering sporting excellence and expanding opportunities for emerging players.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah commended Sri Lanka’s rich cricketing heritage and acknowledged the country’s valuable contribution to the global cricket community. He also expressed the ICC’s willingness to continue supporting efforts that strengthen the sport at all levels.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both parties to advancing cricket development and creating new opportunities for future generations of Sri Lankan cricketers.

Senior officials from the Government and representatives of the cricket administration were also present at the discussion.
