Tharanga heads into the competition in outstanding form after producing a record-breaking throw of 92.62 meters at the Rome leg, setting both a Diamond League meet record and a new Sri Lankan national record. The achievement propelled him to eighth place in the world rankings for men's javelin.
The event, scheduled to begin at 11:14 p.m. Sri Lanka time, will feature some of the world's top javelin throwers, including Neeraj Chopra, Keshorn Walcott, Anderson Peters, and Curtis Thompson.
Earlier this month, Tharanga also made history by winning the Golden Spike Ostrava, becoming the first Sri Lankan athlete to claim victory in the event.
Sports fans will be eagerly watching to see if the Sri Lankan star can deliver another standout performance on the Doha stage.
