Special traffic plan in Colombo for National Scout Poson Zone

Police have announced a special traffic management plan in Colombo to facilitate the "National Scout Poson Zone", which is being organized for the first time by the Sri Lanka Scout Association in conjunction with the Poson festival.

 According to a statement issued by the Police Media Division, the special traffic arrangements will be in effect on June 28 and 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. the following day.

The Poson Zone will be held along Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha, stretching approximately 500 metres from the Lake House Roundabout (Regal Junction) to the Police Headquarters Roundabout.

Road Closures

During the event, the following traffic restrictions will be implemented as required:

Entry to Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha from Regal Junction will be closed.

Entry to Malay Street from the Justice Akbar Mawatha–Malay Street Junction will be restricted.

Access from Bauddhaloka Mawatha (Scout Road) towards the Kompannavidiya Flyover will be closed.

Alternative Routes

Motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:

Vehicles approaching from Regal Junction should travel via D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha towards Gamini Roundabout, or via Ceramic Junction and Lotus Road towards NSA Roundabout.

Vehicles approaching from Justice Akbar Mawatha should use the Malay Street Flyover and Aliya Naana Roundabout to reach Scout Road.

Vehicles approaching from the Kompannavidiya Flyover towards Scout Road should proceed via the NSA Roundabout and Aliya Naana Roundabout.

The following locations have been allocated for public parking:

D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha Car Park

Kumaran Ratnam Road and Keyzer Street

Vauxhall Street

Former Ministry of Defence (MOD) Grounds

Open grounds near Shangri-La Colombo

Union Place – Access Towers

Lake House Front Car Park

Former Manning Market Car Park

Chatham Street Car Park

Police have requested motorists and the public to use the designated alternative routes and parking facilities to minimize traffic congestion during the two-day event.
